Waste moving from the small intestine to exit the body is processed in the large intestine. Its main job is to absorb water and electrolytes from the indigestible leftovers and to form solid waste (feces) that can be eliminated through the rectum and anus. That makes the large intestine the correct fit for this function. The stomach digests and churns food with acids and enzymes, while the duodenum and jejunum are parts of the small intestine where most digestion and nutrient absorption occur, not waste excretion.
